Finding Public Arrest Records

Do you have a need to find public arrest records? You may think not, but you may be surprised to find that this topic comes up quite often especially if you own your own business or if you have children. People are not always as they seem, and when you want to hire someone for a specific reason, you may have to worry about their past. For example, you do not want to hire someone to be a maid in your home for a weekly cleaning if they have a past that includes theft. You can interview someone thoroughly, but that does not mean they are going to disclose this information to you. You have to go out and find it on your own.

Other times when you may want to worry about public arrest records is when you want to hire someone to babysit or be a nanny to your children. You do not want to find that they have been arrested for child pornography, or even worse, child molestation. Those that have been arrested for those things are not going to tell you that if they are up to no good. They are just going to try to get the job hoping you will never know. If you are hiring anyone to do anything in or near your home, or hiring someone to work for your small business, these arrest records are going to come in handy.

Where you can you find these public arrest records? It depends on where someone lives or has lived in the past. Normally, these records can be found through the state web site that has been set up by the government. Some states have these records online through which you can search, and others do not. Some have you fill out a form to send in with a fee, and some have free, searchable databases online that you can access whenever you feel the need. You will have to see what your state of residence has to offer, or go to the site of the state where you know someone has lived in the past.

While public arrest records are great, not all places allow you any access to these at all. That does not mean that you have to give up your search. Some states have inmate searches that you can use to find someone in prison now, or who has been let out on probation or parole. Don't forget to check with our local sex offender registry. You may also find other types of criminal records that can answer your questions just as easily as the arrest records for which you where searching. Remember to be sure you have the right person when searching, as good people have been mistaken and even penalized for something they did not do because of information found through such public records.

It can be tricky looking through arrest records when you can find them. Remember some names are common, and other times, there could have been clerical errors that lead to misspellings which are very confusing. Also remember that an arrest for something does not mean they were ultimately found guilty. They could have been innocent. If you are not sure, your best bet is to ask someone about what happened after the arrest. They may be willing to talk about it or they may simple withdraw their application. It will be up to you to decide which way you want to go after you have found information on public arrest records.
