Choosing Quick Cooking Recipes

You do not have to sweat over a hot stove for hours when you want to make a great, healthy meal for your family. There are some healthy, quick cooking recipes out there that are going to save you time while giving your family the quality meal that you want them to have. It can be quite easy to drive through somewhere and pick up a complete meal, but these meals are never as good for you as what you can make on your own. In order to make these meals, you may have to spend a little more time planning your menu and writing out your shopping list, but the actual preparation time can be cut down quite substantially if you think about easy but healthy ideas for meals.

You want to think about what you can do quickly, and what takes you the most time in the kitchen when coming up with the best quick cooking recipes for your family. You want to include vegetables in each meal, but you may not be very good at chopping them up when needed. There are a few things that you can do about this. For one, you can take some time after you have done your shopping to chop everything up. This can take a bit of time, but everything is ready to go for the rest of the week. You can also get a good chopper or food processor to use when you need it.

Next, think about what your family likes. Some quick cooking recipes are just alterations to the foods that you already love and make. Tacos are often a family favorite, but they do not have to be as complicated as you may be making them. Get a ready mixed seasoning instead of making your own, and concentrate on the healthy aspects of tacos by offering lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese while skipping the fattier ingredients that some use when making homemade tacos. Use hamburger and skip the refried beans if those are taking a long time to prepare.

Along the same lines, quick cooking recipes can be for other Mexican dishes that most families love, or will grow to love. Fajitas are often easy to make if you know what you are doing. You can put your sliced onions and peppers into a large pan with healthy oil and seasoning. Cook down and then add already cooked chicken breast and then serve with sour cream and salsa. These take ten or fifteen minutes and are always great. Best of all, the leftovers are relatively easy to store and will warm up nicely when someone wants a snack or you choose leftovers for another meal.

You can find all kinds of quick cooking recipes when you use the Internet for ideas, and search for cookbooks that have these great ideas included. Some contain nothing but easy, healthy meals that can be made at home quickly without having to worry about having good nutritional value. As you take the time to make these great meals for your family, you may find that you get better at making well balanced meals so that you can come up with your own great recipes and find ways to alter ones that have not been healthy in the past to something that is good for your family to eat.
